Stephanie Bodnar has always been passionate about storytelling through design. After earning a degree in Creative Writing from Carnegie Mellon University, Bodnar chose to follow her passion for costume design, attending FIDM in San Francisco, where she earned a Professional Designation AA in Fashion Design.
Most recently, Bodnar’s work was showcased on the runway at the Go Red for Women’s Red Dress Collection show at New York Fashion Week 2015. Her gown was worn by Carla Hall, a former fashion model and co-host of the ABC TV show The Chew.
Bodnar’s designs have been displayed at the De Young and Palace of Fine Arts Museums, and she was recognized as one of Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion in 2008. She has worked for several Bay Area apparel companies and has designed costumes for local theater and dance productions.
In 2014, Bodnar launched her brand, Evgenia, which she describes as “fine lingerie for the modern heartbreaker.” Evgenia is an expression of Bodnar’s love for feminine detailing, fine fabric and intricate lacework in styles that are ideal for daytime layering and nighttime lounging. The line features vintage styling and embellishment and is available in high-end lingerie shops and online. Evgenia was inspired by Bodnar’s earlier lingerie concept called Honey Cooler Handmade.
Bodnar has received national and international recognition in publications including The San Francisco Chronicle’s Style Section, Racked SF, Racked NY, Time Out New York, 7x7, Glamour Nederland and The Lingerie Journal.
