Born in San Diego, California, Justin found his passion for the arts at
a young age. His influence stemmed from his grandmother, with whom
he spent his childhood and early adolescence creating crafts and various
works of art. At the age of 20, Justin moved to San Francisco, California,
to further his knowledge of the arts and to pursue his dream of fashion
design. A trip to Tokyo, Japan, gave Justin insight to a new and diverse
world of fashion, which holds as a solid inspiration in his designs today.
Justin graduated with honors from The Art Institute of California -
San Francisco and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design with
a focus in Menswear.
As a menswear designer, Justin takes a unique and edgy spin on modern
day men’s wardrobe. He considers his design aesthetic as progressive
urban-wear for men. His motivation comes from various cultures from
around the globe, as well as architectural design. Not only does he admire
leading designers Rick Owens and Boris Bidjan Saberi, but he also
believes that they have paved the way for young designers to be bold,
innovative, and original.
Justin’s work was featured in an editorial photo shoot in the July/August
2011 issue of Essential Homme Magazine. He was also nominated for
Best Male Designer at the San Francisco Fashion Awards 2011. Justin
also attended The Arts of Fashion Foundation’s Masterclass Workshop
in Paris, France, where the final garments were displayed at Le Louvre
Palais in July of 2011. Justin had the opportunity to work with a group
of new and artistic designers creating innovative garments under the
guidance of Matthew Ames, Matthieu Blazy, Julie Perrin, Jasper Sinchai
Chadprajong-Smith, Lucile Puton, and Christine Phung. Most recently,
Justin directed The Arts of Fashion Foundation’s 10th Annual
International Student Competition “Tension”.
Justin continues to draw inspiration from the world around him to
further share his vision through his designs.
