Eight years ago, Chrissie Lam left behind a 12-year career in corporate fashion to embark on a journey that would culminate in the creation of an international brand, love is project. While working in Kenya in 2013, she was blown away by the craftsmanship of local artisans. She worked with one group of women from the Maasai tribe to design a bracelet using local beadwork techniques. The bracelet was emblazoned with one powerful word: LOVE.
Chrissie felt that love is the common thread that connects us all. With the LOVE bracelet in hand, she embarked on a trip around the world--the bracelet serving as a prompt for the age-old question: what does love mean to you? What started as a personal passion project with a single bracelet blossomed into a global movement as Chrissie shared photos and responses on Instagram using the hashtag #loveisproject. Since then, Love is Project has expanded its reach to 10 countries, providing a sustainable living to over 1,200 female artisans across the globe.
